Teardrop remixed by Mad Professor : dub master at work

Mad_Professor_O2

In an interesting box set named Singles 90/98 by Massive attack and released a couple of years ago, there was a couple of interesting and rare remixes. One of them was Mad Professor Mazaruni Instrumental remix of Teardrop. Anyone who has watched the hit series House with Hugh Laurie, already knows this magical tune. Mad Professor takes a masterpiece of post-eighties chill out culture and re-rubs it in a fabulously, dubiously way. Born Neil Fraser in 1955, Guyana, Mad Professor is one of the grand kings of Dub. He’s old school with over 20 albums and has worked with a lot of the reggae greats including Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, either on joining projects or by simply laying down beats. Since the 90s he has remixed tracks by Sade, The Orb, Depeche mode and The Beastie Boys. His best-known project, perhaps, is 1995’s No Protection, an electronic dub version of Massive attack’s second album Protection. However, this remix of Massive attack really shows a great dub master in full effect…Another gem released in 1998.
