John Tejada’s sweating tech-house…

California-based musician John Tejada produces mainly house, tech house and techno but he has also been producing more diverse styles such as ambient and downtempo. Unlike most tech-house producers, however, Tejada’s recordings for Plug Research and A13 emphasize the rougher, more melancholy aspects of techno inspired by Detroit icons like Juan Atkins and Derrick May. Sweat (On the walls) is one heck of a dance record : sleazy vocals combine with a thumping kick drum and an acidic bassline that weaves chaos on its tail. Almost as deep as dark, “Sweat On The Walls” has a retro early Murk sound mixed with elements of new school minimal house.  What else would you expect from Poker Flat recordings ? John Tejada is an exceptional artist not only because of his versatility but also because of his consistency.
