Boards of Canada remix tribute

BOCI am big fan of Boards of Canada and especially their EP’s : Hi scores released on Skam in 1996, or In a beautiful place out in a country and Trans Canada Highway. Maybe best known for their debut album ” Music Has the Right to Children”, released in 1998, Boards of Canada’s music is reminiscent of the warm, analogue sounds of 1970s media and contains themes of childhood, nostalgia and the natural world. BoC’s sound is a product of their use of analogue equipment, mix of electronic and conventional instrumentation, use of distorted samples as well as live and recorded lyrics, and their layering and blending of these elements. Some various people have asked me in the past to make a BoC tribute but I felt it had been done to death and again Tamaris mix from France was in my opinion by far the best. So progressively, this idea came to me to do the same thing as Nina  Simone or DM : use their often remixed, covered and edited songs and make a mix with it instead. So one one night, I worked on a one take, and here is the results…Over 200 covers, remixes (unofficials) and edits of BOC here are some of my favorites. BOC takes me to a special place, I hope this mix will do the same for you through these new versions ! I did it on the spur of the moment at a friend’s place, with Pioneer mixer and CDJ-200, no loop, no effects, just cd’s.
